AsterMD Telehealth
Platform FAQs
AsterMD is an API-first telehealth platform designed to help businesses launch, manage, and grow their telehealth operations. It brings patient intake, consultations, prescription management, pharmacy fulfillment, medical records, reporting, and more into one centralized platform.
AsterMD is designed for businesses looking to launch or expand and improve their existing telehealth services, including startups, established telehealth brands, healthcare businesses, and advertisers entering the telehealth market.
Yes! We’re offering up to six months of free access to the AsterMD platform for qualifying beta participants. This gives you an opportunity to explore the platform, configure your workflows, and start building your telehealth business without paying AsterMD’s standard platform fees during the beta period.
Third-party services, including doctor consultations, pharmacy fulfillment, payment processing, and any custom development, may have their own costs. Our team will explain what’s included before you get started.
AsterMD is built around flexibility and control. While many telehealth platforms require businesses to work within a predefined frontend, provider network, and set of workflows, AsterMD takes an API-first approach that lets you customize how your business operates.
You can use our ready-made patient portal, develop a completely custom frontend, and integrate your preferred service providers. AsterMD also supports multiple channels, allowing you to manage different brands, products, and patient experiences from one platform.
AsterMD’s pricing depends on your business requirements, the services you use, and your deployment model. We aim to offer a transparent pricing structure that allows businesses to understand their platform costs as they grow.
During our beta program, qualifying businesses can receive up to six months of free platform access. Contact our team to discuss what pricing will look like after the beta period. We’ll also answer questions about any transaction-based fees, and third-party service costs.
That depends on your business model, products, integrations, and regulatory requirements. AsterMD can significantly reduce the technical work involved by providing ready-made infrastructure for patient intake, consultations, prescriptions, fulfillment, and operational management. Many businesses will be able to launch in days or weeks instead of months.
Not necessarily. AsterMD has partnered with Beluga Health to provide access to a pre-integrated doctor network, reducing the work involved in connecting your business with clinical providers. You are not required to use Beluga Health, of course, our partnership just provides an easy out-of-the-box option.
Yes. AsterMD is designed to support both new and established telehealth businesses. Our API-first architecture makes it possible to connect existing systems, transition workflows, and integrate with your current technology stack.
AsterMD operates as an API-first cloud service, and all data can be exported.
Not necessarily. Many telehealth businesses operate as non-clinical brands that manage marketing, technology, customer acquisition, and administrative operations while licensed healthcare professionals provide medical services.
The requirements may depend on your business structure, the states in which you operate, and the services you offer. Healthcare regulations, including corporate practice of medicine restrictions, vary by jurisdiction. We recommend working with qualified healthcare legal counsel before launching.
AsterMD is designed with healthcare data security and privacy requirements in mind, including infrastructure and controls intended to support HIPAA-regulated workflows.
HIPAA compliance depends on more than the software itself. It also involves how your business, clinical providers, and third-party services handle protected health information. Where applicable, Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) should be established between the relevant parties.
Contact our team to discuss AsterMD’s security controls, data handling practices, and applicable BAA arrangements.
AsterMD plans to pursue SOC 2 Type II attestation as part of its ongoing security and compliance roadmap.
AsterMD is developed by CodeClouds, an ISO 27001:2022-certified software development company. This certification reflects CodeClouds’ information security management practices.
As a platform, AsterMD supports all 50 states and the District of Columbia, but the states in which you can offer services depend on your products, clinical providers, pharmacy partners, and applicable regulations.
Healthcare professionals must be appropriately licensed or otherwise authorized to provide care in the patient’s state, and prescription and fulfillment requirements may vary. Our team can help you understand the integration options available for your intended markets.
LegitScript certification timelines vary depending on your business model, the products and services you offer, and how prepared your business is when applying.
CodeClouds is a LegitScript Partner and can help businesses understand the certification process and prepare for its requirements, as well as offer an expedited processing time.
Clinical providers and pharmacies must meet the licensing and regulatory requirements applicable to the services they provide and the jurisdictions in which they operate.
AsterMD connects businesses with third-party healthcare providers, including its pre-integrated relationship with Beluga Health. Specific licensing, certifications, service availability, and coverage should be verified with the relevant provider or pharmacy network before launch.
The medications your telehealth business can offer depend on your clinical providers, pharmacy partners, state regulations, and applicable prescribing requirements.
AsterMD provides the technology for managing treatment offerings, consultations, prescriptions, and fulfillment workflows, but it does not prescribe or dispense medications. All prescribing decisions must be made by appropriately licensed healthcare professionals based on their independent clinical judgment.
Our team can help you explore the technical requirements and provider integrations for your intended treatment categories.
About anything that isn’t integrated can be. AsterMD is built to work with the services your business needs. Our API-first architecture supports integrations with CRMs, payment processors, analytics platforms, marketing tools, clinical providers, pharmacies, and other third-party systems.
We offer existing integrations and the flexibility to develop additional connections based on your requirements. If you have a particular service in mind, contact our team to discuss compatibility and integration options.
AsterMD is designed to support flexible integrations, so your business is not necessarily limited to a particular checkout, CRM, or payment processing solution.
Checkout Champ and Vrio may be suitable options depending on your existing technology stack, but alternative providers can be considered. Integration availability and any additional development requirements depend on the provider’s APIs and your intended workflows.
Not every integration needs to handle protected health information, and not every third-party service is designed for HIPAA-regulated workflows.
AsterMD’s flexible architecture allows businesses to connect different services, but it’s important to evaluate how each integration handles data. Services that create, receive, maintain, or transmit protected health information on behalf of a covered entity or business associate may require appropriate safeguards and a Business Associate Agreement.
Our team can help you review integration requirements and identify where additional privacy or security considerations may apply.
